Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. Work site environment: Cold/refrigerated. Hot. Outdoors. Wet/damp. Work setting: Urban area. Rural area. Various locations. Remote location. Tasks: Conduct liquid penetrant inspection. Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect defects. Interpret and document liquid penetrant inspection. Interpret cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts. Interpret conductivity meters and visual indicators. Interpret radiographs. Prepare surface for liquid penetrant inspection. Use electromagnetic eddy current testing methods. Establish NDI techniques and calibration standards. Set up and operate radiographic equipment. Develop and interpret radiographic film. Calibrate, test and interpret ultrasonic equipment. Set up, calibrate, operate and interpret magnetic particle, eddy current, liquid penetrant, acoustic emission, and infrared thermographic equipment. Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations. Instruct and supervise trainees. Maintain test result reports. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Nondestructive Testing Certificate. Testing equipment and methods: Liquid penetrant. Magnetic particle.
