Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Retirement home. Tasks: Administer medications. Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing. Ensure infection control. Monitor nutritional intake. Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects . Record medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files. Take vital signs. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses�: Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work. Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination.
