*BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES*

Under the direction of and reporting to the Logistics Coordinator, this position is responsible for:

1. The operating of propane powered industrial riding lift truck to lift, stack, move, load and unload, materials, steel, moulds/dies, and other equipment.

*NATURE AND SCOPE*

The position of Material Handler is an hourly-rated position with a work week being comprised of a minimum of 44 hours per week. There is a Material Handler assigned to the day shift and to the night shift. Day shift is scheduled from Monday through Friday and one-half days on Saturday mornings. Night shift is normally only scheduled Monday through Friday.

Minimum education level preferred is Grade 12 or equivalent. The successful completion of a certified lift truck driver training course, coupled with 1-3 years of operational experience is preferable.

Must possess the ability to operate overhead crane and hoist systems; reliable attendance record; ability to comprehend and handle various paperwork; ability to communicate verbally and in written form; ability to operate propane/electric lift truck; and be extremely safety conscious.

*JOB DUTIES*

1. Operates propane powered industrial riding lift truck to lift, stack, move, load and unload, materials, steel moulds/dies, and other equipment within and outside of the shop.

2. Maintains main storage and receiving area in such a manner as to make maximum use of available floor space and provide easy identification and access to materials, moulds/dies, etc.

3. Cleans and lubricates lift truck and performs servicing checks of fuel, battery, oil, lights, brakes, etc. on a regular basis to insure maximum operating efficiency of vehicle.

4. Assists in loading and unloading of moulds/dies, steel, materials, etc., from and onto trucks using overhead crane and hoist systems.

5. Ensures that all materials, equipment, barrels, etc. located in the outside yard area are properly stored.

6. Assists in tool crib when and if required.

7. Performs monthly inspection and completes checklist of emergency lighting and fire extinguishers.

8. Changes all air and furnace filters on a monthly or as-needed basis.

9. Makes deliveries to and/or pickups from other AarKel Tool and Die Inc. plants or affiliates, using company owned/leased vehicles. May also deliver/pick-up materials, etc., from local suppliers as necessary.

10. Cleans and sweeps shop areas as time permits.
