Education: Bachelor's degree. Work setting: Publishing house. Tasks: Establish procedures and implement policies in newspaper and publishing firms. Plan and maintain production schedules. Recruit, hire and supervise staff and/or volunteers. Prepare budgets and monitor revenues and expenses. Consult with government regulatory agencies. Review programs and policies to ensure conformance with regulations. Initiate or approve development of articles, books, films, broadcasts, musical recording and theatre productions. Liaise with authors, composers, producers and directors. Estimate time to complete graphic designs and illustrations. Oversee the editorial production, from idea generation to publication. Design and layout pages. Plan page layouts and electronically alter shape, size and positions of illustrations and text. Prepare sketches, layouts and graphic elements. Supervision: 5-10 people. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Excel. MS Word. Adobe After Effects. InDesign. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Attention to detail.
