Landscape Gardener

Gateman-Milloy Inc. is an award-winning firm specializing in site development, ICI construction, and property maintenance based in Kitchener. We are currently recruiting for a *Landscape Gardener* to join our Property Maintenance Division.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has strong knowledge of plants, shrubs, gardens, and commercial and residential landscapes, and takes pride in keeping properties looking healthy and well maintained.

Our Property Maintenance Division operates year-round and provides landscaping, grounds maintenance, and snow removal services for local commercial and residential clients. In this role, you will focus on the care and maintenance of plants, shrubs, garden beds, and landscaped areas across our sites. When plant and shrub work is not required, you will support the regular landscape maintenance crew.

*What You?ll Be Doing*

As part of our Property Maintenance team, your responsibilities may include:

* Visiting commercial and residential sites to inspect plants, shrubs, garden beds, and landscaped areas
* Monitoring plant and shrub health and identifying concerns such as weeds, pests, disease, damage, watering issues, or fertilizer needs
* Weeding, edging, cultivating, mulching, and maintaining garden beds
* Pruning and trimming shrubs, perennials, and other plant material
* Recommending or applying appropriate fertilizers, soil amendments, or plant care practices
* Identifying dead, damaged, or unhealthy plant material and communicating concerns to the team
* Supporting seasonal planting, bed preparation, soil work, and general landscape improvements
* Assisting the landscape maintenance crew with mowing, trimming, raking, cleanup, and other property maintenance duties as needed
* Operating landscaping equipment such as blowers, trimmers, pruning tools, mowers, and line trimmers
* Assisting with winter maintenance, including snow removal, shovelling, and salting

*What We?re Looking For*

We?re looking for someone who is dependable, hands-on, and genuinely interested in plant care and outdoor work.
The ideal candidate will have:

* Experience in landscaping, gardening, horticulture, property maintenance, or a similar outdoor role
* Knowledge of plants, shrubs, weeds, garden bed maintenance, and basic plant health
* The ability to work independently while travelling between sites, as well as part of a crew
* Interpersonal and time management skills
* The ability to operate landscaping tools and equipment effectively and safely
* Willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
* Education or training in horticulture, landscape management, or a related field would be considered an asset. Relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.
* A valid driver?s licence with a clean driving record is required

*Compensation:*

* Starting hourly rate: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
