About the Role
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Restaurant. Tasks: Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items. Estimate labour costs. Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions. Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs. Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions. Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of several restaurants. Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards. Recruit and hire staff. Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks. Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years. Support for newcomers and refugees: Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.). Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.). Support for Indigenous people: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers . Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations . Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers .
