Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Work setting: On-site customer service. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient tiles. Marble tiles. Hardwood strip flooring. Hardwood intricate patterns flooring. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Ability to distinguish between colours. Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Hard hat. Gloves. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement. Organized. Team player. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
