Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Commercial. Residential. Various locations. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Prepare flooring plans and scheduling. Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations. Estimate costs and materials. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement. Organized. Team player. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Support for youths: Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth.
