Education: College/CEGEP. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Survey building locations and levels. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Supervision: 5-10 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Personal protective equipment (PPE) training. Working at heights training. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Transportation/travel information: Willing to travel. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Physically demanding. Tight deadlines. Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Safety glasses/goggles. Safety vest. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Excellent written communication. Reliability. Team player. Values and ethics. Punctuality.
