Zone: Central ZoneLocation: James Paton Memorial Regional Health CentreTrades Worker IICentral Zone - JPM Plant OperationTemporary Full-time (Approximately 3 months) 45126TMPHours: 75 (Shift Work)Salary: CG29 (CAD27.61 - CAD30.67 per hour)Competition Number: VAC0001578Posted Date: 2024-10-08Closing Date: Open until filled.Definition of Work:The Power Engineer will work on all high-pressure steam related equipment within the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre including PRVs, laundry equipment, AHUs, domestic hot water systems, and MDR sterilizer, as shift in charge and maintenance and operation of the combined pressure plant including steam boilers, heating pumps, air compressors, etc. The successful candidate will be responsible for other related duties within Plant operations, including but not limited to, building equipment maintenance of various mechanical equipment such as, mechanical stretchers, hydraulic operating room tables, air compressors, pumps, bed maintenance, and other related equipment. The Power Engineer will also be orientated to Fire Panel response, operations of the Steam Plant and Emergency Power Generation, and other related maintenance duties as required. Travel throughout the region may be required. Personal protective equipment is required for specific areas.* Maintaining a clean-shaven face can be mandated to ensure proper seal of personal protective equipment.Required qualifications:* Successful completion of a valid Fourth-Class Power Engineer's Certificate as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.* Demonstrated ability to work independently and apply diagnostic and troubleshooting skills as required to maintain operations of equipment and facility.* Regional Travel maybe required.* Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.* Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.Preferred qualifications:* Experience working in a health care environment.* Three (3) to five (5) years recent experience in the operation and maintenance of a Power Plant.* Demonstrated knowledge of computer operation programs including BAS and computerized work order systems.
