Education: College/CEGEP. Computer engineering technology/technician, general. Tasks: Coordinate access and use of computer networks. Install software. Install web server hardware and software. Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks and computer workstations and peripheral equipment. Monitor the performance of computer systems and networks. Troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade web server hardware and software. Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software and operating system software. Provide problem-solving services to network users. Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations. Set up local area networks and connections to the Internet. Supervision: No supervision responsibility. Type of service and repair: Alarm/security system. Computer and technology knowledge: MAC. Internet. Servers. File management software. Security software. Information technology. SharePoint. Firewall. Investigative expertise: Closed-circuit television (CCTV).
