EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE College diploma in Thanatology OR in human relations, customer service, counseling, or hospitality. Experience in the funeral industry (asset). Other relevant experience may compensate for academic training. Excellent oral and written communication in French and professional English proficiency. Basic computer skills and familiarity with client management software (asset). Knowledge of key principles of customer service excellence. WORKING CONDITIONS Availability to travel to other branches for replacements or workload surges. Full-time temporary position with possibility of permanency (35 hrs/week). Schedule: Monday to friday Salary: starting at $26.03/hr (without Thanatology diploma) or $27.34/hr (with Thanatology diploma). Group insurance plan after 3 months. 7 paid personal days, bereavement, moving, and wedding leave. Participation in a group RRSP with employer contribution after 1 year. Location: Montreal Reporting to the Branch Coordinator, the Family Advisor?s mission is to welcome bereaved families, provide respectful and personalized support, and organize funeral services according to chosen rites. This key role ensures families? needs are met while upholding the values and philosophy of the Cooperative. YOUR DAILY ROLE WITHIN THE COOPERATIVE Meet families for prearrangements, funeral arrangements following a death, or information and quote requests. Clearly explain the nature of funeral services offered and related costs. Collect all legal information regarding the deceased and inform families about eligible benefits. Coordinate transportation and preparation of the deceased. Schedule funeral services and publish obituaries. Complete required administrative and legal documents. Ensure proper coordination of burials and cremations. Provide support, references, and resources for legal, social, or personal issues. Explain payment details and ensure collection. Enter data into the client management software. Assist colleagues during less busy periods. Perform various administrative and related tasks as needed. YOUR QUALITIES Empathy and active listening are essential. Ability to build relationships and demonstrate compassion. Capacity to personalize service based on family needs. Skilled at promoting services and providing impartial, judgment-free information. Ability to guide clients toward appropriate support organizations. Knowledge to answer questions about grief and funeral rites to help clients find meaning.
