Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Willing to relocate. Relocation costs covered by employer. Tasks: Analyze environmental conditions to determine the most desirable and economic route of flight. Authorize airline flights over assigned routes. Direct air traffic within assigned air space. Provide pilots with information essential to aviation safety. Control moving aircraft and service vehicles at airport. Support air traffic control operations by relaying radio requests for flight clearances, arrival and departure information and position reports. Check flight plans for completeness and accuracy. Relay information to pilots in flight. Maintain radio and telephone contact with other control centres. Alert airport emergency services when necessary. Respond to radio calls from aircraft preparing for takeoff or landing and supply information such as weather conditions, wind speed and direction and presence of local air traffic.
