Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Commercial dental laboratory. Tasks: Design dental devices. Fabricate and repair crowns, bridges or implants. Modify dental devices including full or partial dentures, orthodontic appliances, inlays, onlays, clasps and bands. Prepare plaster models and moulds. Train other dental technicians. Mould wax over dentures set-up. Finish metal framework of dentures. Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays. Pack plastic material in moulds to form full or partial dentures. Make orthodontic bands from metal and alloys. Polish and buff dentures. Computer-aided design (CAD). Technical expertise (dental): Casting. Assembly. Area of specialization: Full dentures. Partial dentures. Orthodontic appliances. Crowns and bridges. Ceramic or porcelain application. Gold dies and goldwork. Chrome castings. Screening questions: Do you have experience working in this field?. Experience: 5 years or more. Health benefits: Dental plan. Health care plan.
