Waypoints is a registered, non-profit charity that has been operating in Fort McMurray since 1982. Waypoints offers facilities, programs and services for people that have experienced, or are experiencing family and/or sexual violence. Waypoints also provides the community with public awareness events, initiatives, and educational programs in the Wood Buffalo region. Waypoints operates Unity House Emergency Women's Shelter, the Opportunities for Change Centre, a Sexual Assault Healing Centre, Child and Youth Advocacy Centre and the Compass which is home of our Second Stage Shelter for women and children in imminent danger in need of transitional housing as well as affordable housing.

*Position Summary:*

The Maintenance Labourer does both inside and outside maintenance activities on Waypoints? various properties ensuring the grounds and buildings are kept safe, clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. This includes various handyperson tasks.

*Requirements:*

* Performs small scale landscaping and maintains grounds. Applies fertilizers, seeding, and sodding lawns, and transplanting shrubs and plants, using manual and power-operated equipment. Mows lawns using a hand mower or power mower.
* Cleans grounds using hand tools.
* Performs building maintenance and janitorial work: carpet cleaning, parkade power washing, bathroom cleaning and toilet plunging.
* General maintenance tasks: unit and facility painting, including drywall repairs, handyperson level electrical and plumbing work, and snow clearing.
* Completes reports and checklists.
* Maintains effective communication including email, written and verbal.
* Other duties as assigned.

*Qualification:*

* Applicable experience and education.
* General repairs and maintenance understanding.
* 1-2 years repairs and maintenance work experience.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.

*Work Conditions:*

* 37.5-hour work week with the ability to flex hours of work.
* Some on-call, evening and weekend work as required.
* Valid Class 5 Drivers license and a clean Drivers abstract.
* RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable and Intervention Record Check.
* Current Emergency First Aid and AED Certification.

*Compensation:*

* Annual salary of $50.329.50 plus $12,480 annual cost of living allowance for a combined annual compensation of $62,809.50.
